Sealey MA10 Wood Mortising Attachment 40-65mm with Chisels

Although veidos shows how easily this works material they must have been using BALSA WOOD as soft pine would not cut easily I literally had to force the square portion of the bit till i thought it would break Luckally the board fractures and let me recover the bitI have reboxed the product but shipping back to England is beyond meIts a lot of CRAP

I was happy to get the complete kit but a little disappointed that the chisel section of the mortise drill is not as sharp as it could be. There is also some alterations that I will have to make so the chisel section stays at the correct position relative to the auger drill as the drill bit rotates so as to enable the correct cutting and removal of the timber from the mortise slot.

The Fence is cheap plastic and has an angled face (about 2 degrees). Locates poorly (restrictive locating) my Jet floor model drill press that has a round table.Recommend you buy a kit that has a cast iron locating rail.

the main body is attached (clamped) to the drill head on the spigot above the chuck. In use it quickly roughened the auger spindle where it entered the chisel. If the machined body is not offset then the problem lies with the plastic bushes supplied to mount & clamp the main body on the pedestal drill head. Given time (winter 2020) I will make an accurate metal ring to replace plastic bush which should improve alignment. it will be useful when I have several repeat joints to do. But otherwise remain on the shelf.

A number of problems with this purchase.In the description it is described as "Supplied with four chisel and bit sets and four mounting rings. • Collar Diameters 40, 52.5, 55, 60, 65mm. • Chisel & Bit Sets 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" Mine was supplied with three chisel bits as in the picture, 1/4", 3/8", 1/2",The next problem is that the 1/2" chisel will not fit in the chisel holder, the chisel shaft is too big.The third problems is that there were no instructions. An online search revealed some written ones that reffered to a diagram that I have yet to find.By the way the supplied attachment was black, not the green in the picture, but I am not bothered about that.I am currently trying to sort this out.

The sealey floor mounted dril press is a great machine so I purchased the ma10 mortise attachment which is a useful addition ,however I carried out my first notice with a 1/4 chisel and on the third pass the drill just twisted of almost at the sharp end rendering it useless ,it looks to me that the small sise is not man enough as I was cutting in to sappely stock which isn’t all that hard ,so bit disappointing

Not impressed, not a clean cut, tough on hardwoods on softwoods it’s untidy. Quicker than by hand. It will do the job.
