... for cello but the black is narrower and looks good Viola is also going to do well as high ...
Have actually just used the tape on cello so far and that's what I find versatile about it-not pre measured or perforated so just cut amount you need and after sliding from bridge side of fingerboard position and if needed pluck before pressing down to fully adhere to ebonyPencil marks are ok as guides but I end up removing and replacing if I don't bow and/or pluck each stringGenerous amount of tape on roll helpsWanted to make the silver reflective strips work for cello but the black is narrower and looks goodViola is also going to do well as high registers are harder to stretch fingers up to than on violin

Ideal for Adult Fiddle Student
This black tape is visible to the fiddle player, but not obvious to the audience. It works better than the flat, full-fingerboard sticker because this black tape is slightly raised so the musician can see it from an angle. I used an exact-o knife to trim the tails/ends of the tape to stop right where the black edge of the fingerboard meets the brown wood of the neck. The thumb position had to be trimmed a little higher (closer to the strings) so my thumb would not push it around. Worked great!

Great Fingering Tape
This black tape is perfect! The tape can not be seen unless you are really close to it (playing it) which is great, as I am an older beginner and didn't want obvious markings on the instrument. The tape stays in place and does not slide around. It was very easy to put on. I have not tried to take it off yet, but the adhesive seems like it would not damage anything on my violin. You also get quite a bit of tape with this. WAY more than I needed, but if you are a teacher or have multiple instruments you would use it on, there is plenty for you! Would recommend.

Very Handy and Good Quality
These are excellent for rental instruments. No damaged to the neck of the instrument, easy to remove, easy to apply, and does not warp or slide around the neck when under stress or work. The only minor downside: The tape is thick enough that (on some instruments) slide notes start to latch to the closest note, as the tape actually contact the string as your finger approaches the fret.Given that slide notes never happened while I was in orchestra for 8 years, and only appeared now that I'm making my own songs, I still rate this 5/5 stars, because it should absolutely be perfect for the vast majority, who are renting stringed instruments for classes.Even if you ARE doing slide notes, there is a way to apply the tape to get around the issue: Don't let the tape surround the entire neck. Remove small segments of the tape that are underneath a string. This way, you still have a reference line on either side of the string, but it won't ever mute the string itself accidentally.

Great customer service and product!
This product was expected to come in the mail anywhere from February 7-12 and I actually received it on the 7th which was very nice! When I received the package I almost thought there was nothing in it due to the package feeling very light and flat. But no worries lol it was in there. I have already placed the black tape on my violin and so far so good. I love how others can't see the black but it's noticeable enough for me to see and gain back my muscle memory. The seller also sent me an email asking if the product had gotten to me okay and if I had any problems to feel free to contact him. That was great customer service alone. I would definitely purchase from this seller again and I highly recommend this product as well.

Great tool for helping students to play without tape
I love the black tape for my students transitioning from the color tape. As an instructor this tape goes a long way and I usually only need to buy one roll a year. I recommend wrapping the tape all the way around the neck to keep it from lifting up. If you trim the sides trim them level with the black portion of the side of the finger board so that it doesn't peel up as easily. This is a great tool to train students to begin playing without tape at all.

Exactly what I needed
This roll is going to last me forever. I'm an adult student and I like the ability to add it when I need it and not have it be so obvious. I have a tendency to become dependent on the tape if it's too bright. With this tape being black, I have the benefit of the little "cheat" when I need it, but it also allows me to learn the position without being too dependent on it. The tape is also the perfect width, not too wide or narrow.

Just what we needed.
Works great for my son. I know little about the viola, but once we got it tuned properly, the tapes were easy to install on our own and his teacher approved of the placement. His teacher applied different colors for each placement on his first viola, but the black is nice because it blends in. He still needs the tapes but has enough experience that he doesn't really need the colors.

Violin Fingering Tape
Great for beginner violin students. I bought this to use instead of stickers.Installation Tip: To place tape on the violin while the strings are on, put tape under strings toward the bridge where the gap is bigger and then move up to correct position and put in place.

Works well
Works well for what it's supposed to do. Glue on backing can be a little fussy when applying, strips need to be replaced after a few months of playing.
