The best dashcam I've owned, and I've had many
BlackVue has released another impressive dashcam. This one is their new flagship (non-built-in LTE). BlackVue is known for its excellent video quality, particularly in UHD 4K resolution. This model performs exceptionally well in low-light conditions, making night recordings clear. The device quickly establishes a reliable WiFi connection and offers seamless functionality. You can get an LTE adapter module, but with how well it works without it, you probably won't need it unless you want GPS and live view (for fleets, for example).Consistent with BlackVue's reputation, this dashcam's recording capabilities are outstanding. It is complemented by an integrated cloud system that facilitates easy video browsing and playback. It delivers excellent video quality regardless of the time of day, with nighttime recordings often allowing for clear visibility of street signs. You'll be able to catch license plates; this camera excels compared to many other models in brightness at night.User-friendly features include a compatible USB-C power connection and a magnetic mount. The build quality is higher than the typical cheap plastic used in many other devices. There was a brief instance where the camera shut off for about 30 seconds before automatically restarting, but overall, the resolution has proven adequate for identifying license plates nearby. For plates further away, verbal identification can help, as it will be recorded in the audio track. The accompanying app launches quickly, allowing users to transfer files to their phones via WiFi while still in the car.The camera records automatically, either upon manual activation or via a G-sensor. However, for moment-perfect captures, users may need to be proactive in hitting the recording button, as relying solely on the device for timely recording may not always be feasible. Notably, neither the app nor the camera's menu allows for direct control or configuration of this feature.

Excellent quality and features but no OFF button
I upgraded an existing dash cam to this one and I've been truly impressed with the quality and functionality. Admittedly, I haven't gone through the proper install process to get the rear camera and hard-wired in to power so that it'll work when the vehicle is off, but I've been using it for a while connected via USB power and it has worked great so far.The images you get are very clear, much better than my past camera. I also appreciate that it can connect to wifi and provide a live-view at any time from anywhere. I have wifi set up in my truck already so that's a perfect solution for my use and I connected the wifi to my vehicle rather than my home.Instructions for wiring into your fuse panel are provided and rather straight forward. I would have likely done this already if it were not for one very minor flaw in the device. The one thing I do not like about it is that there's no dedicated way to power the device off. The input power is also provided via a barrel connection into the device rather than USB as most have. For reasons specific to me, I travel regularly in an area where it's illegal to use dash cams.I got around this previously hitting the off button directly on the dash cam. I'd turn the camera every time I approached the restricted area. Since this one does not have an off button, I cannot do this. Instead, I need to unplug the USB at the source, which is why I'm stuck with it wired that way at the moment.Long term, I do want to wire to fuse box and get parking security as well. Doing that though, the input power connection will not be reachable when I'm driving, which is why I've avoided so far. I've drawn up a plan to get around my issue but haven't implemented it yet.Overall, I really love this camera. I do wish the connector at the unit was USB or it had a dedicated off button. This is likely irrelevant to many people, but for me, it's very important and the one feature that's missing.

Super easy to mount and set up. Clear video and a really cool gadget in my truck
I put this BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus II in my 2018 Silverado about a month back and so far I’m really happy with it, picture on the front cam is super sharp you can actually see license plates even when it’s dark out which my old dash cam could never do, the rear isn’t 4K but still plenty clear for what I need, install took me a while just because of figuring out how to hide the wires but once it was in it looks really clean like it came with the truck, it starts recording right away when I turn the key so I don’t miss anything, the parking mode works like it should and I was a little worried about battery drain but haven’t had any issues there, WiFi playback to my phone is a bit slow sometimes but it’s still convenient if I don’t feel like pulling the card, the cloud thing is cool too gives me peace of mind when I leave the truck at work overnight, only gripe is the app feels a little clunky until you get used to it but that’s not a deal breaker, overall it’s pricey but the video quality and reliability make it worth it and I don’t regret picking it up
