230 Okatsune Cutting Shears, Type 65, 7740ai

In the past I have used all other hedge shears on the market. None of those can compare to these shears. I have two of them, one short handle and one long handle. They are very sharp and lightweight. Therefore my work gets done faster. The other brands are much heavier to use and do not keep a sharp edge while cutting.Give these shears a try and you will not be dissatisfied.

My philosophy is generally to buy the best product I can get because it usually lasts longer and provides a better user experience. Yes, these are about 3x the price of a comparable set from a local store, but wow are they worth it! The balance is just phenomenal and they're as sharp as razors. It's astounding just how smoothly they cut shrubbery. I have some Swiss-made Felco products, but these are on an entirely different level.Don't loan these to your neighbor! I scowled at my wife when she tried to put them away without cleaning them first and spraying them with WD-40. Take care of them and they should last 20 years.

I bought or have held in my hands, several tools that are similar to this one.Okatsune Hedge Shear, Wood Handle:This tool is the pinnacle of design: of strength to lightness ratio, imo.If I had to only have one, and non other, this one would be a great choice. It only weighs (using my scale, so there may be a small error) 2lb and 4.3oz, but is very strongly made.The way I would explain how I feel about these types of tools, without being exactly scientific, is:ARS 28- to 41-1/2-Inch Hedge Shears HS-K900ZThis tool can handle 50%-70% of any job (maximum branch thickness it can cut), at 2lb and 2.0oz, it is the lightest with the longest reach, lighter duty, but still a very useful ability.Okatsune Hedge Shear, Wood Handle(~30" total length)This tool can handle 95% of any job (maximum branch thickness it can cut), at 2lb and 4.3oz, the strongest yet lightest, for its weight/ability.The corona AH6950 (~31" total length) can handle 98% of any job at 2lb and 12oz, a bit heavier, but still acceptably heavy (barely...., for me), yet more capable then Okatsune Hedge Shear, imo.The corona HS6930 (~30" total length) can handle 99% of any job at 3lb and 2oz of "top heavy" weight, that would tire me before I was done with all the work, but can cut virtually anything, approaching indestructible (difficult to break, even intentionally).

The blade's cutting ability is comparable to other hedge clippers I have used. It is good. It does the job. For those of us of a certain age, those of us who hesitate to climb a ladder for pruning, the long handles are advantageous. I can reach the high shoots from the ground. It works well held in the usual position as well as upside down. It comes with a blade sheath, a nice feature if you have grandkids or neighborhood children who like to poke around in the tool shed.

My husband and I love these shears. They are the second set we have purchased- the others have slightly shorter handles. Okatsune shears are very well made and are super sharp. Just clean and lightly oil these before putting away and you won't need to sharpen them for a long time. You will be able to trim everything from twiggy shrubbery to fine grasses. Your hollies will love trimming day-- mine do!

These shears are what dreams are made of! Just the sound of them alone is mystifying..The best hedge shears I have ever owned and I have had many since I am a pro landscape/gardener.Okatsune makes incredible products and these are at the top. They are so razor sharp you have to be very careful, they will cut your finger like paper if you lightly pass a finger across the blade. Best shears ever!
