Good and strong.
After having to throw away a well known brand grinder, I took a punt on this one, partly as it got good reviews on an independent site.First of all, it is not a grinder, it does not grind. Very few of the cheaper ones are grinders, they chop. However, having used this one just the once so far, it does to the job very well. It is solidly built, and feels good quality with a strong motor. The stainless steel bowl can be removed. If I had a minor criticism, it’s the included instructions are rather brief, although it is a simple machine to operate.

Highly recommended for grinding whole spices for indian curry powders and Garam Masala.
I bought this on 13 Jun 2022 specifically to grind whole spices for curry powders.it has a thin flat edged blade which is fairly close to the bottom of the bowl which is exactly what you need for grinding spices.(You do not want a grinder that has sharp edged blades for grinding had things like whole spices). This Duronic grinder is one of the best grinders I have had so far. (And over the past 30 years I have tried quite a few)It has a 250W motor which makes all the difference in getting a finely ground spice mix,Initially you need to fill the grinding bowl from about about 1/3 to 1/2 full of whole spices and do the first grind for about 1 minute or so.If the initial grind increases the volume of the spices to more than half the grinding bowl volume I will tip some of the coarsely ground mix out into a container, and continue with grinding with enough spice mix to fill abut 1/3 of the Duronic grinder bowl, (and grind the rest afterward you have done the first half). After the initial grind, you should stir the spices to release the finely ground spices from the bottom of the bowl. And then grind again in 30 second bursts and stir and repeat several times to get a finely ground blend, which will be eventually be almost as finely ground as a commercial curry powder. With any make of electric grinder it slows down too much if the spice blend is getting quite fine and is is much more than 1/3 to 1/2 full.It is also good for slightly wet grinds to make garlic and ginger paste as well. I add a little oil and water to grind coarsely fresh garlic and ginger too.It is pretty good at grinding nuts as well, but you should only fill the bowl to 1/4 full for nuts.it does not work that well for very oily nuts such as walnuts. They tend to have some big lumps left, and the rest becomes almost like a thick paste which strains the motor.I did put the bowl in the dishwasher about 18 months ago, and it caused the black plastic base of the grinding bowl to have fine cracks in it, and eventually, today on 14-jan-2024 part of the plastic base of the grinding bowl broke off. There was no need to put it in a dishwasher either because it is very easy to clean the removable bowl with a brush under the hot tap with a little washing up liquidBut the electric grinding base with the motor is still going strong after nearly 2 years.I was going to buy the same Duronic model again today, but I saw a different brand of grinder which looks very similar, but the other has a 300W motor, so I am going to give that one a try.But regardless of that, this Duronic Coffee Grinder Electric Blade CG250 | Grinding Mill is a really good grinder and I am happy to recommend it to people who want to make curry powders from whole spices. Some advice for people who want to grind curry powder, and nuts etc, is don't ever bother with the models that are only 150W to 200W as they are not quite powerful enough to do the job.

Excellent buy
I have to say that this little machine didn’t disappoint one bit! It’s absolutely amazing and l just wish ld bought it ages ago. I wanted to make something for you nutritional yeast capsules and this reduced it to powder in seconds, as it did with herbs and seeds.I used the ‘wet’ container to make some almond flour as the other container was full at the time, it made perfect fine flour again with a few pulses. So thrilled with this and there’s little noise also.I had previously bought a different brand which didn’t work properly and made a terrible noise.Very easy to clean as the cups screw off.One downside for me is that l find the cups soo hard to screw off the base, l can cope with this however.

30 minute delay required between herbs and spices
What they don’t tell you about this is that if you want to grind multiple herbs and spices, you’re going to have to stop and give this machine a 30 minute rest so its motor can cool down. That was in the instructions, which surprisingly, given UK regulations, wasn’t included in the package. Instead there was a horrible plastic, paper backed sticker on the machine, that was already starting to peel off. This gave you a link to get these. There was also a sheet of paper, four colour printed in multiple languages, telling you why they’d decided not to include an instruction booklet. This, according to them, is for environmental reasons. Of course this is belied by the use of the horrible plasticized sticker and plastic bags in the packaging. And printing, stapling, folding and trimming booklets, or getting a multi fold on a large sheet of paper, is an expense, as is the cost of inserting into the carton. Removing the sticker was the typical time consuming pain that consumers shouldn’t have to undergo in the 21st century. As a coffee grinder this works very well, though it’s worth stopping and shaking every now and then, as part cut beans can get stuck under the blade (as they can in other grinders). I found it very easy to get the grind I wanted, both for cafetière use and my espresso machine. It’s also very easy to clean. The wet grinder also works well, though as you’d expect, cleaning takes a little more effort. And again, it’s easy to get the cut you want. The 30 minute rest time is a real inhibitor to the functionality of this machine if you’re batch cooking with fresh herbs and spices. And that gets it marked down. The two plastic lids (One for each cutter insert) fit well, remain attached in use and are easy to get off. The top lid, which looks an encumbrance, isn’t, though it requires worktop space when you’re using the machine. The lead on this is short, so if you’re short of electrical sockets, or they’re in an awkward place, it’s worth bearing that in mind. This came with a plastic spoon with a brush on the other end. That’s gone into the kitchen junk drawer.Would I buy this again? No. It’s easy enough to use and clean, but if I’d known about the cooling down interval, I’d have bought something else.
