The most useful knife in the drawer
I have bought other knives of this size in the past and been disappointed, so it was with some trepidation that I ordered this one. But it has been ideal for a host of jobs, especially preparing onions and root vegetables. It sits nicely in my oversized hands and is well balanced, takes and keeps a sharp edge and is generally my go-to knife when preparing meals. Well worth the small investment.

MADE IN CHINA, NOT MADE IN SHEFFIELD
I needed a magnifing glass to discover it was NOT MADE IN SHEFFIELD as the name clearly implies.I really like the knife and given the price may have bought it anyway. The finish isn't perfect, the blade seems to be slightly bent to the left but it fits my hand, is a good weight and is sharp. But I feel that I've been fooled by the words RICHARDSON SHEFFIELD I think it should be RICHARDSON CHINA.

Nope - rust after 1 use.
I've LOVED and used Richardson Sheffield Steel knives all my adult life. Ny fav is a Chef knife I've had for 17 years - sadly I dropped it and the tang has broken clean thought! Need to find a welder to put a couple of drops of solder! Apart from that, they've been reliable and robust, so naturally seeing the Sabatier Santaku Trompette in 5" made me very happy indeed! It is beautifully sharp and slides through an onion without so much as a tear! Yayy. I was delighted because a sharp knife is hard to find! But.Now, I have small hands and the handle of the knife feels thin and that could be dangerous if you can't get a firm grip. It twisted as I pressed down in the onion, this is NOT good. The morning after as I was putting the dishes away I noticed spots on the blade - rust. After ONE use. I wish I'd taken pictures before trying to scrub it off! The rust has left marks as per images. Again this was after ONE use.I've not had time to return it because it's a 30 minute drive each way. But I'll get my £ back. What's concerning is I called the IMPORTERS - this knife is made in China so clearly NOT Sheffield Steel - and customer service wasn't interested in taking any of the details to check the batch.Anything else, meh. But rust in food prep? Non-negotiable - this is food hygiene and safety 101. QC clearly lacking so buy at your own risk and keep an eye for rust. #gutted.
